Cauca Molly - Poecilia Caucana: Facts and Information

Poecilia caucana is a peaceful aquarium fish species with carnivorous-herbivorous feeding habits originating from South America. This fish, known by its Latin name, is popular among aquarium hobbyists and attracts attention with its various features.
Poecilia caucana, which generally has a calm and peaceful attitude, can live with other species in mixed aquariums under suitable conditions without any problems. They have a friendly attitude, especially towards their own species, and prefer to live in harmony in the aquarium.
Gender distinction is quite evident in this species. While males have a special reproductive organ called gonopod, females do not have this organ. Reproduction occurs by live birth, and this is a common form of reproduction in the natural life of the species.
Temperature preferences vary between 26°C and 30°C. Generally, males grow to an average size of 3 cm, while females can reach approximately 6 cm. For this reason, it is recommended to group them in such a way that there are 3-4 females per male in the aquarium. An aquarium volume of at least 60 liters will be sufficient.
As water parameters, water hardness of 10 - 20 °dH and pH level of 7.0 - 7.5 are suitable conditions for the healthy development of the species. Poecilia caucana can provide an enjoyable experience by increasing the dynamics of your aquarium with its colors and liveliness.
